Section 7: The Ways of the World
vs. The Ways of God's Kingdom
Page 1: Satan's Domain Encompasses the World
Most non-Christians and some Half-Hearted Christians believe they are “the master of my own ship,” and that they are the supreme ruler in their kingdom of self. But that is a fantasy, for the Bible speaks of only two spiritual monarchies: Satan’s domain of darkness, which includes the world, and God’s kingdom of light. There is no third realm, no middle ground, no kingdom of self. Positionally, a person is either in Satan’s domain of darkness or God’s kingdom of light.
Satan’s domain of darkness came into existence when he was banished from heaven, and it will end with God’s final judgment against him and his evil realm. God’s kingdom is eternal; it had no beginning, and it will have no end.
Biblical perspectives of the World
The Bible gives us several perspectives of the world. It begins by describing God’s creation of a perfect world (see Genesis 1). “World” in this sense refers to the planet earth. After God created Adam and Eve, He appointed them stewards of the world—the earth and everything God placed on it. But when Adam and Eve listened to Satan and sinned, rather than obeying God, they forfeited their authority over the world to Satan.
“Earth” and “world” thereafter took on distinctly different meanings. “Earth” (Greek, gē) is the created ground or natural world which came under Satan’s authority at the time he deceived Adam and Eve (see Revelation 12:12). “World” (Greek, kosmos) now means “world system,” “ordered world,” or “world order.” It refers to all unsaved people and the evil, ordered system in which they live and which is in rebellion against God and His people. Scriptures identify Satan as the present ruler of this world order (John 14:30) who holds the people of the world in his grasp (1 John 5:19). This evil world (John 7:7) is more than the temporal world in which we live; it is part of Satan’s domain of darkness (Ephesians 6:12), which includes the evil spiritual realm.
Satan’s world order is opposed to God’s wisdom (1 Corinthians 1:21), to the life of faith (John 15:18, 19), and to Christ’s kingdom (John 18:36). Believers will some day participate in judgment of the world (1 Corinthians 6:2). The world is therefore temporary (1 Peter 1:24) and will be replaced by a new heaven and a new earth (2 Peter 3:13; Revelation 21).
The world is an ordered monarchy
As Figure 7-1 illustrates, the world is a hierarchal system. Ephesians 6:12 describes this hierarchy as “the rulers...powers...world forces of this darkness.” Satan and his demons lost their ancient rebellion against in heaven, but continue to carry out their vengeance against God by waging spiritual warfare against His beloved creation, man (believers as well as nonbelievers). Jesus said that everything Satan’s world order stands for and produces (it’s “words”) are evil (John 7:7).
Figure 7-1: Organizational chart of Satan’s world order.
Satan, with the help of demons, rules the world, and will do so until the return of Christ. All Adamic people are citizen/slaves of Satan’s world order. We Christians are “in” the world but are not “of” the world because we have been taken out of the world positionally and placed into God’s kingdom. However, believers can become functionally enslaved to the world by walking in its ways.
_______________
History’s Evil Empires
Satan is the temporary “god” of this world, and his world order follows an ill-fated course that has seen the rise and fall of six ancient, evil empires, and will culminate in an end-time seventh empire. The Bible portrays the last empire first as a nation of mostly godly people. Eventually, that empire will be inhabited by a new majority who rebel against God and His people. In the end, it will aspire to become a global empire.
The Bible* identifies the six ancient world empires:
Egypt (1600 B.C.-1200 B.C.)
Assyria (900 B.C.-607 B.C.)
Babylon (606 B.C.-536 B.C.)
Media-Persia (536 B.C.-330 B.C.)
Greece (330 B.C.-146 B.C.)
Rome (146 B.C.-476 A.D.)
*Jeremiah 50, 51; Daniel 2, 7, 8; Revelation 13, 17
A seventh nation-empire—symbolically called “Mystery Babylon the Great”—remained future at the time the Bible prophecies of nation’s were written.
All six ancient empires advanced civilization in many temporal—secular or worldly—ways. But not always in God’s ways. Ultimately, they rebelled against God and His children.
Historically, God always delivered a remnant of His children from Satan and the world. And so it will be in His dealing with history’s seventh and final world empire.
Non-Christians, who belong to Satan’s world order, live in its ways. Paul writes, “And you were dead in your trespasses and sins, in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience” (Ephesians 2:1, 2).
Babylon: The epitome of the fallen world
The ancient empire of Babylon (or Babylonia) stands out as history’s most perverse and rebellious against God. Its pagan Chaldean religion and Tower of Babel (Genesis 11) made it the epitome of Satan’s world order up to that point in history. God put down the Babylonian rebellion by dispersing its people to various locations around the earth and causing them to speak in different languages.
End-time non-Christians (I think of them as Neo-Babylonians), whether they know it or not, are well on their way toward Babylonizing the modern world. The final thrust of global reunification will be led by the Antichrist. But he will do so at the expense of national Babylon. His vision to rule the world will be cut short by the return of Jesus Christ.
Modern transportation and communications technology have been closing the distance gap which has historically separated Babylonians—since the time God dispersed them around the world and gave the various groups different languages.
Today, the barriers of language differences are being overcome through the emergence of English as the most popular second language of once non-English-speaking peoples.
Man’s march toward a New World Order in all actuality is a march toward a global empire that will eventually be ruled by the tyrannical Antichrist for a few short years before the return of Christ.
The characteristics of Mystery Babylon
The Bible gives history’s seventh and final world empire the loathsome, descriptive title, “Mystery Babylon the Great, the Mother of Harlots and of the Abominations of the Earth” (Revelation 17:5).
The “Mother of Harlots” is not actually a woman but is the spirit of Babylon (apostasy, lawlessness, and rebelliousness against God) that has characterized the previous six world empires. Behind the movement toward Mystery Babylon is “the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience” (Ephesians 2:2b).
That “spirit” is the “spirit of Antichrist” (1 John 4:3). Indeed, many antichrists—precursors of the end-time Antichrist—are in the world today (1 John 2:18).
The Mysteries of Babylon
There are several “mysteries” surrounding the last Babylon, one of which is its hidden identity until the end-time. Believers will identify it based on its characteristics revealed through Bible prophecies. Here are some of those:
- Superpower among nations (Jeremiah 50:23)
- Most recent of nations to become the world’s superpower (Jeremiah 50:12)
- Multicultural (Jeremiah 50:37)
- Wealthy among nations (Jeremiah 51:13; Revelation 17:4)
- Leader in world trade and economics (Revelation 18:13)
- Influential in many countries (Jeremiah 51:13)
- Loud voice in the world (Jeremiah 51:55)
- Strong defenses (Jeremiah 51:53)
- Idolatrous lust for false gods and other material things (Jeremiah 50:38)
- Revels in epicurean pleasures (Revelation 18:4)
- Sins piled as high as heaven (Revelation 18:5)
- Cup of gold once held by God, that becomes a cup of abominations held by the Harlot of Babylon (Jeremiah 51:7; Revelation 18:4)
- Blinded by pride (Revelation 18:7; Jeremiah 50:24; 1 Thessalonians 5:3)
The quest for a New World Order
Paralleling Bible prophecies of Mystery Babylon is today’s emerging globalist movement that already surpasses the might of ancient empires. For more than two centuries it has been touted a “New World Order” by European Freemasons (who brought it to America in the 18th Century—see Figure 7-2), President Woodrow Wilson and his League of Nations, Adolf Hitler, Winston Churchill, and more recently by Henry Kissinger in the 1970s, President George H. W. Bush at the inception of the United States-led coalition against Iraq in 1990, and every President since.

My icon for Satan’s world order is adapted from the pyramid symbol of a New World Order which originated in European Freemasonry two centuries ago. The rock pyramid appealed to the stone masons’ sense of pride in their trade, and the all-seeing eye was appealing to those mostly religious masons because it was said to represent God. Little did the common mason know that the symbol was designed by a would-be elite of European Egyptian occultists who conspired to establish a New World Order based upon a one-world, occultic religion, government, and economic system. The pyramid was touted to be symbolic of man’s aspirations to establish a perfect world order with the help of God—God being symbolized by the omniscient or all-seeing eye. Such a concept runs counter to God’s will. The fall of all the ancient empires of the world attest to that fact. Furthermore, the Bible clearly names Satan, not God, as the “god of this world.” The whole notion of man realizing a perfect world order with God’s help is no more than a deception of Satan. And the deception continues to this day.
The Freemasons’ occultic pyramid symbol has long been depicted in the Great Seal of the United States of America. It has appeared on the U.S. dollar bill since the 1930’s, when new-worlders convinced President Franklin D. Roosevelt to proclaim that its slogan, “novus ordo seclorum,” represented his “New Deal.” However, it wasn’t until President George W. Bush’s inaugural speech on January 20, 2005, that the true meaning and scope of that slogan was defined in his mission statement for a New World Order to mean “New Order of the Ages.” |
The historical quest for a revival of Babylon can be seen in the New World Order envisioned by institutions and groups such as the United Nations, the Council on Foreign Relations, the Trilateral Commission, the Bilderbergers, and others.
The Quest for a New World Order
I first wrote about the New World Order in my 1976 book, Kissinger: Man of Destiny. I have been a New World Order and Henry Kissinger watcher ever since.
When the former Secretary of State and leading architect of the New World Order appeared on CNBC’s “Squawk on the Street” in early January 2009, host Erin Burnett asked him what international conflict would define the Barack Obama administration’s foreign policy.
Kissinger responded: “The president-elect is coming into office at a moment when there is upheaval in many parts of the world simultaneously. You have India, Pakistan; you have the jihadist movement. So he can’t really say there is one problem, that it’s the most important one. But he can give new impetus to American foreign policy partly because the reception of him is so extraordinary around the world. His task will be to develop an overall strategy for America in this period when, really, a new world order can be created. It’s a great opportunity, it isn’t just a crisis.”
Not surprising, when Obama addressed the graduating class of 2010 at West Point on Saturday, May 22, 2010, he spoke of moving toward such a New World Order: “The international order we seek is one that can resolve the challenges of our times... combating a changing climate and sustaining global growth; helping countries feed themselves and care for their sick; preventing conflict and healing its wounds.”
Barack Obama is but the latest American President to promote the New World Order.
Years before, at the outset of the Gulf War in 1990, then President George H. W. Bush announced via global television: “Out of these troubled times, our fifth objective—a New World Order—can emerge; a new era, freer from the threat of terror, stronger in the pursuit of justice, and more secure in the quest for peace. An era in which the nations of the world, east and west, north and south, can prosper in harmony.... A hundred generations have searched for this elusive path to peace, while a thousand wars raged across the span of human endeavor. Today that new world is struggling to be born. A world quite different from the one we’ve known. A world in which the rule of law supplants the rule of the jungle.... Nothing will stand in the way of the New World Order.”
Bush’s vision for a New World Order quickly spawned many hastily written and rushed to press books on the subject by Christian as well as secular writers, including Pat Robertson, founder of the Christian Broadcasting Network and a former Presidential candidate.
President H. W. Bush was succeeded by yet another New Worlder President: Bill Clinton.
Two weeks before Clinton was sworn in as President he told the United Nations Association: “We must do more than talk about the New World Order.” After that, he publicly mentioned the New World Order only a few times, for there was mounting opposition to the globalist movement. The name, “New World Order,” almost overnight fell into disuse among politicians and the news media. But the New World Order had lost no momentum.
Henry Kissinger said, in 1994, “It [The New World Order] cannot happen without U.S. participation, as we are the most significant single component. Yes, there will be a New World Order, and it will force the United States to change its perceptions.” (World Affairs Council Press Conference, Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel, April 19, 1994.)
When President George W. Bush was inaugurated for a second term, on January 20, 2005, his speech was essentially a mission statement for the New World Order, which he referred to as a “new order of the ages.” (“New order of the ages” is translated from novus ordo seclorum, the Latin slogan that appears beneath the New World Order pyramid on the Great Seal of the United States.)
The New World Order’s anti-Christian agenda
Today, the New World Order, by whatever name, is the driving force and objective of America-led globalism. And regardless of the good that its proponents envision it to be, it is no more than the inevitable evolution of Satan’s ill-fated, old world order that someday will be ruled by the Antichrist and fulfill its prophecy as Babylon the Great. Even now the “spirit of antichrist” and “many antichrists” are active in the world (1 John 2:18, 22; 4:3; 2 John 7).
Following are but a few statements by New Worlders that reveal the movement’s chilling ideology.
Zbigniew Brzezinski, former National Security Advisor to the President, is a Kissinger disciple and one of the architects of the New World Order. He and David Rockefeller are co-founders of the Trilateral Commission, which, along with the Council on Foreign Relations, are two of many front organizations for The Establishment’s New World Order.
Brzezinski considers religion and nationalism to be enemies of the New World Order. In his 1969 book, Between Two Ages: America’s Role in the Technetronic Era, Brzezinski wrote: “[The] gradual shaping of a community of the developed nations would be a realistic expression of our emerging global consciousness; concentration on disseminating scientific and technological information would reflect a more functional approach to man’s problems; both the outlook that would gradually replace the institutionalized religious, ideological, and intensely national perspectives that have dominated modern history.”
Brock Chisolm, when director of the United Nations World Health Organization, used more direct and forceful language to convey the same New World Order strategy: “To achieve world government, it is necessary to remove from the minds of men their individualism, loyalty to family traditions, national patriotism, and religious dogmas.” (Cited by Tal Brooke in an article on the New World Order in the Summer 1991 edition of SCP Journal.)
Based upon statements by those and other New World Order proponents, it is clear that the major obstacles to the New World Order are biblical Christians, Orthodox Jews, and fundamentalist Muslims. The Establishment is therefore doing all it can to instill among them a New World Order view. And today we are seeing the emergence of apostate New World Christians, New World Jews, and New World Muslims.
