Frank Allnutt's Giclées on canvas These are produced on artist grade canvas with archival inks. Giclées on canvas are displayed in the same manner of original oil painting by stretching them on canvas stretcher-bars and then framing them. Frank's giclée on canvas are available unstretched, stretched, and framed, or mounted on rock. Giclée (jhee-clay) is a French word meaning droplets or sprays of paint. In today's parlence, giclées of original paintings and photos are prints produced by a high definition inkjet printer. These printers use digital technology to enhance and preserve the character of the original painting, utilizing pigment based archival inks printed on museum quality canvas. Giclées of photos are actually of higher quality than than original transparencies and prints on photo paper because the computer-enhanced images expand the gamut (color range) and the printer's pigmented inks have greater gamut than photo paper dyes. Photos dye fades relatively quickly, while pigmented inks are laboratory tested to retain color integrety for more than 100 years, under normal conditions. Giclées are exhibited in even the most renowned art museums and galleries, as they are considered fine art. Frank personally signs and numbers his giclées.

Frank Allnutt began his creative career at the Walt Disney Studio and went on to become Public Relations Manager of WED (Walt E. Disney) Enterprises, the "Imagineering"—planning and design—firm for Disneyland and Walt Disney World. It was at WED where he became fascinated with the similarities between Disney animation art and ancient Egyptian tomb mural art. It inspired him to return to his long-held interest in photography and painting. Eventually, his artistic abilities were put to work. He created early concept drawings for the Disneyland Light Parade and “Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Water” show for Walt Disney World. After leaving Disney his art was once again placed on hold, and writing books became his number one passion. Today a best-selling author of more than two dozen books, he is perhaps best known for The Force of Star Wars, which has been translated into many languages and distributed worldwide. Frank now resides in Salida, Colorado, where he continues to write and paint. His biography appears in The International Who’s Who of Intellectuals, The International Book of Honor, and a score of other biographical reference works. |
